Signature Kitchen Suites (SKS) selected 12 designers to be the first to tour and experience the SKS Skyline Lounge at the LG Headquarters in New Jersey. I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in such an amazing weekend, what a fun experience! Not to mention #TrueToFood delicious!
Day 1- Gorgeous Hotel and Dinner with a View...
We arrived at our hotel in the afternoon. The Beekman Hotel is a stunning boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown New York City. The landmark building, constructed in the late 19th century, its' ornate nine-story atrium took our breath away. The hotel's rooms are elegantly designed with a mix of vintage and contemporary decor, featuring high ceilings, hardwood floors, and marble bathrooms. During our 3 day stay, we loved our delicious breakfasts and our meetups at the hotel's restaurants and ended every evening at their cozy bar enjoying their yummy craft cocktails. The Beekman Hotel is the perfect choice for a memorable stay in New York City.
After freshening up and getting settled in our beautiful rooms, we were driven, along with the SKS and the Designhounds staff to the Manhatta, The restaurant, situated on the 60th floor, boasted breathtaking views. It was a truly magical experience to dine while taking in the city's stunning skyline. The meal itself was nothing short of magnificent, and it was only the beginning of an unforgettable weekend.
Day 2- Urban Farm, Furniture Fair, Friendly & Fabulous Dinner... Oh My!
During our visit to the Brooklyn Grange, on top of the Brooklyn Navy Shipyard, our group had the opportunity to learn about urban farming and witness the impressive over 1-acre rooftop farm. The highlight of the experience was meeting Chef Kate, who creates mouth-watering dishes using freshly harvested items from the farm. It was fascinating to see how urban farming can be utilized to create sustainable and delicious meals, and I left feeling inspired to support this innovative approach to agriculture. #TrueToFood
After our delicious lunch, we had the opportunity to visit the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair). The event was a feast for the eyes, showcasing some of the most innovative and cutting-edge designs in the furniture industry. We were able to see a wide range of styles, from minimalistic and modern to ornate and traditional. It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by so much creativity, and I left the event feeling energized and motivated to continue pushing the boundaries in my own design work. I absolutely love finding new products that allow me to keep my design projects unique and personalized to my clients.
And our day was not over, we were then driven to another wonderful dining destination at the Roman and Williams Guild. The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the delicious dinner we were treated to. The decor of the downstairs room where we were seated, made for easy conversations. It was a perfect mix of cozy and elegant, with a wonderful display of handcrafted art pieces and decor. However, what will be forever in my memory is the relationships forged with this amazing group.
Creating relationships with other talented designers was one of the most rewarding results of this trip. When a group of people who share the same interests comes together, they can learn from each other, share ideas, and grow together. It's amazing how quickly beautiful friendships can be formed when you have a common passion. Being able to bounce ideas off each other, and share tips and tricks, can lead to not only personal growth but also professional success. Building a network of like-minded individuals can also lead to exciting opportunities and collaborations in the future. All in all, creating relationships with other talented designers was a fulfilling and enriching experience.
Stay tuned for my next Blog Post, when I will share Day 3, and the highlights of our visit to the Signature Kitchen Suites Skyline Room.
